Abstract/Contents: | Discusses problems golf course superintendents have faced dealing with geese, stating that "the birds munch on turfgrass and worse, leave behind a foul and unmistakable evidence of their presence." Announces a "federal law that will allow landowners, including golf courses, to destroy eggs and the nests of resident Canada geese." Suggests "other PETA-approved [People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals] methods [including] reducing suitable nesting areas; shaking, oiling or puncturing eggs; use of products with chemical additives such as anthraquinone or methyl anthranilate, that make grass taste downright yucky to geese; and harassment methods, including dogs and scare devices." |
