Abstract/Contents: | Discusses a study initiated in 1984 "to explore the details of BTA's [Black turfgrass ataenius] life cycle in Wisconsin," stating that BTA Ataenius spretulus "is a tiny white grub pest in golf courses which attacks the root system of grasses, primarily annual blue grass and bent grass." Describes the study, stating that "one conventional insect blacklight (ultraviolet) trap was placed on each of four golf courses." Reports that "two generalizations can be made regarding 1985 beetle flight periods: large egg laying flights were seen in most locations in mid to late April, and other flight peaks corresponded with the flight activity observed in 1984." |
