Abstract/Contents:Discusses fungi associated with patch disease, stating that "the term 'patch disease' is rapidly coming in to use as a generic term to describe the group of diseases that have similar syumptoms of discolored, dead rings, holes or 'patches' as a common denominator." States that "the three most significant diseases, and associated pathogens, include necrotic ring spot (Leptosphaeria korrae), summer patch (Phialophora graminicola), [and] take-all patch (Gaeumannomyces spp.)." Lists samples, sources, and isolation summaries from the study. Concludes that "considerable greenhouse inoculation and isolation studies involving both organisms would need to be done to determine the significance of the presence or absence of Phialophora isolations from turf plant parts."
