| Abstract/Contents: | Profiles the water usage by superintendent Mark Esoda at Atlanta Country Club in Marietta, Georgia. States that Esoda "headed up the water task force for the Georgia Allied Golf Council, an industry consortium consisting of the Georgia State Golf Association (GSGA), Georgia Section of the PGA [Professional Golf Association] of America, Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association (GGCSA), Georgia Golf Course Owners Association and the Georgia Chapter of the Club Managers Association of America." Describes the efforts being made for water conservation, stating that "numerous hearings are being held across the state to gather information and consider as many of the water needs as possible from Georgia's various industries." Stresses that "it's important for GSGA member clubs and the individual members themselves to talk to their state legislators and really emphasize how important the [golf course] industry is to the state and their local communities - the jobs that are created, the tax revenues that are generated and the positive environmental effects of golf courses in terms of green space and open space." |
