States that "the ACSP seeks to address golf's environmental concerns while maximizing golf course opportunities to provide environmental benefits." Discusses information that Audubon International provides, including "environmental planning"; "wildlife and habitat management"; "chemical use reduction and safety"; "water conservation"; "water quality management"; and "outreach and education." Details possible benefits of the program, including "reduced pesticide use"; "reduced pesticide costs"; "decreased water usage"; and "decreased water costs". Concludes that "more than 2200 golf courses are members of either the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program or the Audubon Signature Cooperative Sanctuary Program...[Audubon International wants] 50 per cent of all golf courses in Canada to enrol [enroll] and be active in either the Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary Program for golf courses or the Audubon Signature Programs which help new developments protect natural resources, both on and off site."
