Abstract/Contents:Describes an experiment conducted in 1984 to "measure the relative water use rates of seven cool-season turf species under uniform and optimum cultural regimes." Describes the methods used in the experiment, stating that "under the uniform cultural regime, turf species were maintained identically." States that "within each cultural regime study, turf species were arranged in a randomized complete block design with four relications." Provides results of the experiment, reporting that "Kentucky bluegrass and rough bluegrass exhibited high [Evapotranspiration] ET rates. Lower ET rates for Kentucky bluegrass were observed in the Spring possibly due to its slow rate of establishment versus the other species." Concludes that "the highest ET rates occurred during the Summer when evaporative demand was greatest."
