Abstract/Contents: | States that "tall fescue is an important species because of its ability to withstand the heat and drought conditions of Nebraska." Describes how the planted tall fescue seedlings "were evaluated for color, texture, overall quality, and seed production capabilities." States that "since 1983, synthetics (a group of clones which are allowed to interpollinate) have been established from material from the most outstanding turf plots and nursery material." Also states that "there is potential that these plots will have outstanding performance, since each seed is a cross between two outstanding clones." Concludes that "if a synthetic does well, the original parents will be used to reformulate the synthetic, but on a larger scale for initial production of synthetic seed." |
