Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted to determine potential methods of brown patch control. Details methods and materials used in the study, stating that "a two-year-old planting of 'Manhattan' perennial ryegrass was used for this experiment. All treatments were replicated four times with each replicate plot being five feet by five feet...Inoculum was prepared as follows: one-quart wide-mouth canning jars were filled 1/3 full with tall fescue seed. Water was added until all seeds were wet and the jars were then autoclaved." States that "several different experiments were conducted within this test. There was a general protective fungicide schedule, a curative (after symtoms appear) schedule and a validation of three computer models to predict infection periods for Rhizoctonia solani, the causal organism of Brown Patch." Reports that "most treatments provided significant (P=0.05) control of Brown Patch when compared to the unsprayed check." |
