Abstract/Contents: | Suggests that "often scientific research leads to unintentional benefits that can outweight a product's intended purpose." Provides examples of unintentional benefits, including when Toro Co. researchers discovered mowing at night reduces the chance of disease while they were testing robotic mowing technology. Concludes that "superintendents have a tremendous opportunity...to help spur change in research by better communicating their needs to companies with which they do business, and prodding those companiese to seek innovation through partnerships with research scientists. Doing so will only lead to realizing more unintended benefits of various products." |
