| Abstract/Contents: | Describes how superintendents can maintain safety on the golf course to abide by Alberta, Canada's Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) code. Lists "booklets included in the Health and Safety System: "the Initial Employeee Orientiation"; "the General Course Maintenance"; and "the General Shop Safety." Recommends the superintendent "place emergency response posters - which display phone numbers for police, fire and ambulance - in key areas such as bathrooms." Discusses material safety data sheets (MSDS) and states that "the MSDS must be filled out for each item on the dangerous goods inventory and should be updated every three years." Briefly discusses forms to be included in a training manual, including personnel data forms, safety-meeting minutes, and internal training forms. Concludes that "after using the Health and Safety System for a year, an audit is recommended to see where improvements or additions can be made." |
