Abstract/Contents: | "This study was designed as a large-scale pilot test to evaluate possible athletic field renovation methods. The availability of a grassland drill, such as the Rogers seeder, used in combination with seletive pre- and postemergence herbicides and using improved turf-type perennial ryegrasses should improve chances for successful summer renovations. Information obtained from this study would indicate the possibility of applying herbicides at the time of seeding when using the Rogers seeder. This would eliminate the recommended wait between herbicide application and seeding and allow for a longer grass establishment period. Results also cast doubt on the need for, or value of, adding Kentucky bluegrass seed to mixture for short-term summer renovatons." |
