Abstract/Contents:Reviews recent studies on the use of certain industrial organic wastes as soil conditioners and alternative sources of plant nutrients. Results show that many types of waste products may be beneficial as soil amendments, however, the rate of application is dependent upon soil texture. Relatively sandy (loamy sand or sandy loam) should receive limited rates while silt loam soils could receive higher rates. Waste materials also do not provide balanced fertilizers, thus a soil testing program should be followed to ensure top quality turfgrass.
