Abstract/Contents:Studies of Poa annua, annual bluegrass, show great diversity in the species. Improved strains may be obtained which show promise as a future turfgrass in opposition to annual bluegrass as a turf weed. "At this point, our studies have demonstrated the great diversity within Poa annua; confirmed the latent ability of the grass to produce quality turf as has been postulated by others; reaffirmed earlier work showing that all Poa annua is not inherently shallow rooted; and demonstrated that all Poa annua is not any more susceptible to heat stress than other grasses used to produce quality turf."
