Abstract/Contents:Discusses how "to discourage ryegrass and encourage bermuda in the spring." Suggests that "successful spring transition starts with good bermudagrass management in the fall." Advises turf managers to apply postassium, avoid scalping, delay overseeding, maintain irrigation, and apply fungicides. Also recommends several cultural practices "to remove the overseeded turfgrass while speeding recovery of the bermudagrass", including delayed core aerification, closer mowing, vertical mowing, the withholding of irrigation, and increased nitrogen fertilization. Concludes that "perennial ryegrass is the best choice for winter overseeding high-use turf."
