Abstract/Contents: | SUMMARY: "Nutsedge control requires a program employing several methods. Preplant tillage can be used to stimulate germination and to move tubers to the soil surface where they are subject to desiccation and cold injury. High plant populations of competitive crops cause shading which reduces nutsedge growth and reproduction. Cultivation during the growing season plus herbicide use ultimately will apply enough pressure to maintain nutsedge populations at manageable levels. This total program is necessary to produce corps profitably where moderate to severe infestations of yellow and purple nutsedge are present." |
