Suggests that "understanding basic plant physiology is critical in preventing summer dormancy." Lists practices that may be implemented by superintendents to "improve the plant's abaility to avoid, survive and recover from dormancy." Includes higher mowing heights, deep and infrequent irrigation, avoiding spring or summer nitrogen applications that produce rapid shoot growth, cooling the soil, encouraging root growth, and limiting traffic. |
