Profiles the Calrochan Sod Puller (CSP), developed in 1998 at Michigan State University "to measure the force necessary to tear a piece of sod." Describes other early sod testing devices. States that "sod strength measurements for Kentucky bluegrass increased with sod maturity and maintenance intensity." Concludes that "the correlation and consistent trends obtained during this investigation suggests that the Calrochan Sod Puller is an excellent apparatus to measure turfgrass sod strength." |
