Abstract/Contents: | Compares establishing turf areas with sod or seeding with erosion control blankets. States that "in comparison to sod, seeded areas will always take longer to grow in. But...the new generation of blankets provides comparable erosion control and actually lengthens the fall germination window." Discusses potential long-term disadvantages of establishing sod including poor root establishment, necessitating the need for pop up sprinklers around bunker faces. Concludes that superintendents "have to be the spokespersons for this improving technology." |
