| Abstract/Contents: | Announces Stone Mountain Golf Club in Georgia and superintendent Anthony L. Williams as the "overall winners in the 2006 GCSAA [Golf Course Superintendents Association of America]/Golf Digest Environmental Leaders in Golf awards." States that "in his first year as superintendent at Stone Mountain, Williams won the overall award for his work in water management." Also mentions other award winners, including Michael Perham of The Landings Golf Club in Savannah, Georgia; Ryan J. Bancroft of Salishan Spa and Golf Resort in Gleneden Beach, Oregon; and James Beebe of Priddis Green Golf and Country Club in Priddis, Alberta, Canada. Explains that "the winners are decided by an independent panel of judges including those from national environmental groups, turfgrass experts, university researchers and other members of the golf community. The awards recognize superintendents and their courses for overall course management, integrated pest management and education/outreach. They are also judged on sustainability, criticality, originality and technology implementation and use." |
