| Abstract/Contents: | Profiles Karen White, executive director of the Georgia Golf Course Superintendents Association (GCSA), and her father's struggle with colorectal cancer. States that "after just two chemotherapy treatments, he was hospitalized with pneumonia and dehydration." Explains that "cancers of the colon and rectum are among the most common in the United States. They occur in both men and women, and are more often found among people over the age of 50." States that "as golf course superintendents and representatives in the turfgrass industry, the knowledge [superintendents] share is very important and helps [them] grow and do a better job...[White] wanted to share this with...the people who are some of [her] best friends, in the hopes that [they] all are wiser and more alert to the dangers that cancer may hold." |
