| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the sustainable golf course. Suggests that "being sustainable [unsustainable] is not an option." States that "getting on top of thatch, improving drainage, reducing shade and enhancing airflow can increase [a course's] sustainability." Suggests that "with increasing competitions from...courses built to drain, and...ones looking to refurbish with green construction and other improvement programmes [programs], those unwilling or unable to raise the bar will become increasingly unsustainable and may not survive for much longer." Concludes that "the first step is often the most difficult; finding the time to step back and honestly, and realistically, assess where the course is with regard sustainability, the potential of where it could be and the steps needed to move towards that goal." |
