Abstract/Contents:Discusses verticutting, suggesting that "with high quality turf it is perfectly possible to create excellent putting surfaces with very little verticutting." States that "there are various types of vertical cutting. Grooming improves the quality of cut and sward texture, whereas light, moderate or severe verticutting will each produce a different effect on the turf and surface." Also states that "it is...possible to prepare high quality putting surfaces without routine verticutting." Concludes that "verticutting is a useful tool but it should be used only when needed and not as a matter of routine."
