Abstract/Contents: | Details fariway and rough management practices used at Chinguacousy Golf and Country Club in Canada. States that "Chinguacousy is a 27-hole course, situated in the Caledon Hills with the Credit River running through it." States that fairways are mowed twice a week, fertilizer is applied twice a year, irrigation is used when required, and herbicides are also applied when needed. Suggests that "herbicide applications in the rough are very important. There is little point in killing weeds in the fairways, tees and greens if [the superintendent leaves] weeds in the rough." Concludes that "since [the superintendent is] working on a moderate budget [the] practices are not as preventive as [he] would like...[but the] grass seems to be more tolerant and stronger in times of stress due to the fact that it must fight harder for survival due to lower management levels." |
