Abstract/Contents:Presents a study conducted to "identify the optimum water application volume needed to suppress take-all patch to acceptable levels on a creeping bentgrass fairway." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "a total of eight individual or tank-mixed fungicide treatments and an untreated control were included...All fungicides were applied in three different water volumes (1.0, 2.5, and 5.0 gallons of water per 1000 ft2 [square feet])." Reports that "although take-all patch was severe in 2005, disease symptoms were highly variable and less severe in 2006. Due to this high variation, no differences in percent take-all patch per plot or disease severity were observed on any rating date." Results indicate that "although no differences in disease severity and turfgrass quality were observed in this study, it is likely that the reduced level and erratic presence of disease symptoms resulted in a poor evaluation of take-all patch." Concludes that "future studies need to be conducted under situations in which disease pressure is severe."
