Abstract/Contents:Presents a study conducted to "i) evaluate several individual and premix herbicides for their efficacy for postemergent control of crabgrass; and ii) evaluate any synergistic or antagonistic effects of applying tank-mixes of various broadleaf and grassy weed herbicides." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "herbicides evaluated included Q4TM (quinclorac + sulfentrazone + 2,4-D + dicamba), Drive® (quinclorac), Acclaim® Extra (fenoxaprop), Surge® (sulfentrazone + 2,4-D + MCPP-p + dicamba), and the experimental herbicide mesotrione." Reports that "crabgrass pressure was extremely high in the study area and an average of 91% of the untreated control plots were populated by crabgrass by late [August]." Also reports that "herbicides evaluated in this study provided variable suppression or control of crabgrass." Concludes that "based on data from this study, caution should be used when tank-mixing certain broadleaf herbicides with herbicides designed to provide postemergent grassy weed control."
