| Abstract/Contents: | Presents a study conducted "to determine if anion exchange membranes (AEMs) could predict NO3-N [nitrate] leaching losses from a fertilized cool-season turf under field conditions." Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "soil monolith lysimeters were used to collect percolate water that was analyzed for NO3-N concentration." Reports that "anion exchange membranes (AEM) were found to be a reliable predictor of flow-weighted NO3-N concentration and cumulative mass loss from a Kentucky bluegrass turf." Concludes that "these data suggest that AEMs can predict NO3-N leaching from a cool-season home lawn turf and therefore may serve as a useful tool for N [nitrogen] management by reducing NO3-N leaching from excess N application." |
