Abstract/Contents:Presents the bentgrass performance results of New Jersey turf trials. Profiles several bentgrass species used in the trials, including creeping, colonial or browntop, and velvet. Details the materials and methods used in the program, stating that "bentgrass evaluation trials were established at the Rutgers Horticultural Research Farm II in North Brunswick, NJ [New Jersey] in the fall of 2001...2002...2003....and 2004." Reports that "throughout the years, a few varieties in each bentgrasss species have stood out among the rest. For creeping bentgrasses maintained at putting green height of cut, Authority, Declaration, Tyee, and Shark all performed very well, whereas the turf quality of Penncross, Providence, Viper and Crenshaw was poor." Also reports results on disease incidence of dollar spot, brown patch, red leaf spot, and copper spot. Provides results regarding spring green-up, fall dormancy, establishment, scapling, density, leaf texture, and genetic color of the grasses.
