Abstract/Contents:Presents the performance results of perennial ryegrass cultivars in New Jersey turf trials. Details the materials and methods used in the study, stating that "four perennial ryegrass trials were established between 2004 and 2005. Three of the tests were seeded at Adelphia, NJ [New Jersey],..and one test was seeded at New Brunswick NJ." Reports results on turf quality, establishment, and disease incidence, stating that "the development of improved resistance to gray leaf spot steadily continues at the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Stations." Concludes that "although significant improvements have been made to perennial ryegrasses, increased genetically stable resistance to gray leaf spot, crown rust, dollar spot, pink patch, red thread, and brown patch is still needed. In addition, increased heat tolerance, cold hardiness, and the ability to survive under ice sheets for extended periods are also necessary."
