| Abstract/Contents: | "The grass retardant, mefluidide, is translocated to developing tillers of perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) after foliar application. The physical constriction imposed by abnormal leaf sheath growth and by either inhibition of tiller bud production or their further development. Mefluidide further reduces tiller bud numbers in treated plants by bringing about the death of a proportion of existing or, newly formed young tillers. The results are discussed in relation to the performance and efficacy of mefluidide as a grass retardant." |
