Abstract/Contents:Profiles centipedegrass, "a light-green, sod-forming turfgrass that requires little nitrogen fertilization...and relatively low-maintenance." Discusses possible advantages of centipedegrass, stating that it "has good drought tolerance and fair shade tolerance, ranking between St. Augustinegrass and bermudagrass." Also discusses possible disadvantages, including "poor low-temperature hardiness....susceptibility to nematodes and very poor tolerance to alkaline soils." Lists several centipedegrass varieties, including Oklawn, AU Centennial, TennTurf, and TifBlair.
