| Abstract/Contents: | Field-plot tests in England in 1979 showed that treatment with phorate granules at 3 kg a.i./ha every 6 weeks during the growing season improved the herbage yield of the controlling shoot-fly [Oscinella frit (L.)] larvae. The yields of some varieties were increased to a much greater extent than those of others, indicating that various levels of resistance to pest attack are inherent in the grasses and that these could be exploited in a plant breeding program. |
