| Abstract/Contents: | "During 1981 through 1984, 10 field trials were performed with glyphosate on quackgrass in various cropping situations in Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa. Rate and volume studies included 0.38, 0.56, 0.75, 1.13 and 1.5 lb ae/A glyphosate in 10, 20, 30 and 40 GPA water carrier with and without added nonionic surfactant. Results demonstrated that quackgrass control was inversely related to increased application volume. Effective season-long quackgrass control was obtained with spring or fall applied glyphosate at 0.75 lg ae/A plus 0.5% nonionic surfactant in 10 GPA. This treatment was effective in both annual cropping and sod to annual cropping systems. Sequential applications of 0.75 lb ae/A glyphosate plus 0.5% nonionic surfactant in 10 GPA made one year apart gave superior quackgrass control to that achieved with a single treatment of 1.5 lb ae/A glyphosate in 20 GPA." |
