Abstract/Contents:Profiles the Golf Course Information System (GCIS) developed by superintendent Michael Morris and Dr. Thom Nikolai. States that "a primary objective of GCIS is to offer superintendents a method to determine their ideal green speed. The superintendents role in this process is to collect daily green speed perception surveys...For the individual golf course, diligent data entry into [a] GCIS system delivers real-time tables and graphs for green speed." Also states that "putting green design, maintenance budget, golfer demand/perception, and equipment...are all dynamic components that contribute to determining and managing putting greens." Explains that "as golf courses continue to track key data in GCIS and as GCIS continues to develop the 'toolkit' for recording and extracting meaningful information, superintendents will be able to determine where they can make the best return on investment as they target their course's ideal putting conditions."
