| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses updating irrigation systems, stating that "[the] performance may not be as reliable or efficient as it should or could be." Describes options available for improving irrigation systems. Discusses irrigation-design basics and head-to-head coverage, stating that the system's performance can often be improved with new or repaired components. Also discusses evaluating irrigation systems, fixing potential problems, and irrigation controllers. Describes different types of controllers, including basic controllers and "those that are connected to their own on-site weather station that calculates the field's exact evapotranspiration (ET) rate every day." Also describes controller add-ons, stating that "every irrigation system, no matter how sophisticated, should have a rain sensor or soil-moisture sensor connected to its controller." Concludes that "true 'head-to-head coverage' is always vital for any sports-field irrigation system." |
