| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses safety precautions when handling pesticides, suggesting to "first read the label." States to "select a mixing site"; "follow proper practices"; "handle containers correctly"; "observe safety precautions"; and "check chemical mixes for product incompatibility." Also states that "in some cases, mixing chemicals together may cancel their effectiveness; in other cases, the effectiveness of some products may increase when they are applied in combination." Concludes that "the proper mixing, loading and application of pesticides are key to an effective pest management program. Giving proper and consistent attention to all safety precautions when handling pesticide products is crucial to the safety of workers and the environment and to the long-term availability of these management tools." |
