Abstract/Contents:Discusses the use of turf modules, explaining that "modules are large trays of rootzone mix and gravel, upon which grass is grown. The trays are consequently pushed together to form a field." States that "professor Trey Rogers of Michigan State University undertook the task of creating the mobile indoor field for the 1994 World Cup in the Pontiac Silverdome" in Pontiac, Michigan. Profiles the turf module system at Spartan Stadium at Michigan State University, stating that "it was decided that an Integrated Turf Management system involving growing natural grass on individual 4-feet square modules which, when ready, are then linked together to provide the sports playing area would be used." Also states that "the modular pitch at the Hancock Research Centre [Center] was carefully broken into modules, loaded onto a flatbed trailers [trailer], and brought to the stadium, where they were unloaded with forklifts."
