Abstract/Contents:Discusses climate change and predicts temperature and weather changes in the United Kingdom (UK). Suggests that "the UK should expect a 4°C [Celsius] rise in temperature by 2080. Heatwaves are on the rise and, by 2080, summer temperatures of 40°C will be common. Winters will also be warmer." Mentions the possible impact of climate change on turfgrass disease occurrence. States that "well-known disease problems apparently [have] 'spread' to new hosts and several new disease problems have been identified...[Turf professionals] have seen a possible shift in pathogen population with regard to Anthracnose basal rot." Discusses changes in several other turfgrass diseases, including dollar spot, rapid blight, Pythium root disfunction, and Pythium blight. Concludes that "fungal diseases and...invertebrate pests continue to be recorded across the UK. It is quite possible that they have always been there, waiting to be identified. No one can say for certain what future additional problems...and what changes will occur in the development of the problems...However...it is useful to be aware of all potential problems, not to worry too much over them, but to be ready to deal with them should they decide to take residence in [a] sward."
