Abstract/Contents:Discusses the differences between sodding and seeding a lawn. States that "according to the non-profit Turf Resource Center (TRC), the hidden costs of seeding can quickly exceed the actual costs for sodding." Describes establishment costs, explaining tht "a pallet of turfgrass sod obviously costs more than a bag of seed, a bushel of sprigs or a tray of plugs...According to TRC, at least one complete overseeding or many more sprigs or plugs are often required." Describes other hidden costs of seeding during grow-in and maintenance, stating that "extra water, fertilizer and herbicides (and the time they take to apply) aren't just first-year hidden costs for a seeded lawn, but continue well into the second and possibly the third year as well."
