Abstract/Contents: | Discusses several cultural practices that may help control weed encroachment. States that "regular, often daily, mowing on greens promotes maximum tillering and the highest density of vertical plant shoots. With such density there is little chance of invading wees seeds germinating and the emerging plants competing with the close spaced grass shoots." Also discusses turfgrass establishment timing, stating that "seeding in the spring, when the soil is warming up and intervals of dry weather are expected, encourages the invasion of weeds." Recommends that turfgrass nutrition be maintained to promote denser growth. |
