Abstract/Contents: | Investigates the cause of brown spots in a homeowner's sod and finds the cause to be lack of rooting into the underlying soil which resulted in the sod being lifted by the mower and consequently dried out. States that the roots could not grow into the soil due to the interface between the sod and sandy soil as well as the presence of tree roots in the sod. Suggests that the homeowner "prepare the soil to a depth of six inches or so, and to eliminate as many roots as possible. Then resod with a sand-grown sod." |
