Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the potential effects of media coverage of events at sports fields, stating that "the perception of field quality by those off-site could become as great a factor in achieving funding or community support as the perceptions of those who are participating in or attending the game." Recommends actively seeking interaction with media personnel and providing them with a fact sheet of key details about the field. Suggests "if there are issues with the field, explain what they are and what [is being done] to rectify the situation." Discusses interviews with the media and provides recommendations for making them as effective as possible. Concludes that "some people believe that no news is good news, but effective communications can put a positive message about [facilities] in the spotlight." |
