| Abstract/Contents: | "Insecticides and their application frequency were tested for control of Herpetogramma licarsisalis (Walker) in Hawaii. Insecticides were applied every 4 wk, every 8 wk, or 'as needed' (only when visual ratings of insect feeding injury averaged 10% or greater for a given insecticide). Avg number of larvae present and insect feeding injury increased with increasing interval between application. In addition to the original application. one application of chlorpyrifos 5G. 2 applications of chlorpyrifos 4E, and 10G, and chlordane, 3 applications of chlorpyrifos-fertilizer combination, and 4 applications of Alfatox® (20% methoxychlor-10% diazinon) were required in the "as needed" treatment during the 6-mo period." |
