| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses pythium root dysfunction caused by P. aristosporum. Presents an experiment conducted to "determine which species were responsible for pythium root dysfunction" Reports that "seventy per cent of the isolates collected were identified as P. volumtum whole the remainder have been identified as Pythium torulosum." Describes the symptoms of the disease, including "a yellow-to-orange foliar decline" and irregular patches of turfgrass. Discusses potential management and control options, stating that "pythium root dysfunction can be managed chemically, but it is important to rotate modes of action whenever possible to prevent resistance." Explains that a turf sample should be sent to a diagnostician to properly diagnose the disease. |
