Abstract/Contents:Discusses irrigation requirements, stating that "determining the water requirements of the landscape can be accomplished in a number of ways. The scheduler should have a thorough knowledge of plant and soil moisture relationships, soil moisture sensors, potential evapotranspiration (PET) rates, and average water requirements." Suggests that "perhaps the easiest way to determine landscape watering requirements is through an average weekly use rate." Discusses other factors to consider when determining watering times, including "the intake rate of the soil ('infiltration rate') and the allowable time to water ('water window')." Also discusses how to determine the required water on a weekly and yearly basis.
