| Abstract/Contents: | Presents standards for irrigation design and installation created by the Florida Irrigation Society (FIS) "to increase the reliability, life-cycle cost effectiveness and water use efficiency of these systems." Explains that "the FIS Standards and Specifications for Turf and Landscape Irrigation Systems are delineated into 5 major parts": "general"; "design criteria"; "materials"; "installation"; and "testing and inspection." Concludes that "the Standards are provided by the FIS as a service to the industry and members are not required to adhere to them. However, the FIS is actively promoting their use within the membership, through educational programs, and to governmental agencies developing irrigation codes." |
