Abstract/Contents: | Discusses spring fertilization, stating that "spring fertilizing of turf on recreation grounds, and other surfaces...at the rate of four to six hundred pounds of organic nitrogenous fertilizer plus one or two hundred pounds of sulphate of ammonia to the acre has been found to produce good growth on established turf and maintain it until fall fertilization is in order." Explains that "laying down hard and fast rules as to the amount of fertilizer needed to the acre by all turf areas is impossible." Mentions spring seeding and seed bed contouring. Cites "mixing quickly available fertilizers with topdressings some time prior to spreading" as a possible cause of fertilizer loss. |
