Abstract/Contents:Suggests that "the key to avoiding or at least mitigating [invasive weeds, grass-eating fungi] and other common turf issues is to effectively employ the four standard weapons of the trade: fertilizer, water, aeration (perhaps) and proper mowing techniques." Lists potential considerations to take when applying fertilizer, including "do not over-spray"; "keep fertilizer off sidewalks"; "read the fertilizer label completely"; and "apply on appropriate schedules." Briefly profiles Bermudagrass, stating that "[it] should be mowed only with a sharp rotary blade or a reeltype mower blade...recommended mowing heights vary according to season. During the growing season (generally spring), [one] can keep it shorter, around 3/4 of an inch."
