| Abstract/Contents: | States that past attempts at the control of annual bluegrass (Poa annua) have failed "because turf quality on greens must remain at optimal levels, often preventing cultural programs which could result in the control of AB [annual bluegrass]." Explains that "on recently established greens, premergence control represents an approach to delay the encroachment of AB", but adds that "AB is more perennial in nature and a postemergence herbicide is neccessary to fully control this weed pest." Reports that "only one herbicide, ethofumesate (Prograss), has shown selective postemergence control of AB." Suggests that "a sound preemergence program combined with judicious applications of ethofumesate should keep recently established greens near 100 percent bentgrass." |
