| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses water restrictions on golf courses and advocates the "wider use tools to estimate turf water requirements." Explains that turf water needs change in accordance with turf evapotransiration (ET) rates, which are influenced by several environmental factors, including "temperature, solar radiation, day length, relative humidity and wind speed." States that "turfgrass ET can be estimated using empirical equations or atmometers", such as evaporation pans or Bellani plates. Also suggests the use of soil moisture sensors such as tensiometers, gypsum blocks, and time domain reflectometers. |
