| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses procedures that may help ensure proper storage of turf and ornamental chemicals on golf courses, stating that it is important to "ensure the safety of staff, golfers, and public"; "protect an expensive investment"; "preserve the effectiveness of the products"; and "comply with laws and regulations." Dicusses regulatory condiserations and the location of the storage area, stating that "generally, the site should be at least 50 feet from other buildings and at least 100 feet from any well or body of water." Details potential steps for the construction of a chemical storage facility, stating that one should "use a concrete foundation with a subgrade that resists heaving or sinking", and that "floor drains should be capable of being rapidly sealed or shut in case of a spill." Lists other general design considerations, including consultations with the fire marshal, building inspector, and insurance carrier before construction begins "to determine materials choices." |
